Dia de Viento en Medemblik (terceros!) - Windy day in Medemblik (3rd overall)

Gold Fleet started today and we raced three races with 15 to 20+ (in the last race). Our day didn't start on the best way as we scored a 21st on the first race. However, we were able to get better and score an 11th and a 3rd in order to move up to third overall.
In front of us we have the ISR team (2nd) and the British (1st- two times world champions). Chasing us in 4th place the Australians (Gold medalist in Beijing 08).

We are all set! Tomorrow morning we'll be on our way to Medemblik - Netherlands. One important thing is we'll have to go to Nautivela to pick up our boat  first. We left it there a few days ago in order to do some  minor adjustments before our next regatta.

English version

Milán:
Our first destination was Milan. Even though we weren’t going to sail there, we had something really important to do: Rig up a brand new boat with the help of Nautivela’s specialists.
With the help of Paul Portiglia (Nautivela Srl Engineer) and Andrea Mannini (Zaoli sails designer) we were able to customize our boat.

Garda:
Three days in Nautivela had been more than enough so we went to “Riva del Garda”. We were going to sail the boat for the first time.
We were going to race the Italian national championship, which would be a good way of testing our new team member. We would have high level rivals as Gabrio Zandona and Pietro Zuchetti (second at the French Olympic week) and the Japanese Harada Ryunosuke - Yoshida Yugo (third in the last World Championship)

The regatta was raced with the predominant wind. 15 – 20 knots. The boat and the sails were awesome and we could win the event.
We didn’t have much time to relax as our next event was coming in two days-àOlympic Garda.

The “Olympic Garda” went much better than expected. We stayed always at the front and every day that went by made us feel much better with the new boat.
Now, is time to relax. We’ll go back to San Remo for a few days (place where we are based). Our next step will be the “Delta Lloyd regatta” (5th step of the ISAF world CUP), which will be our last test before the World Championship.

Primera gira 2010 / First European trip

“1st European tour” (March 15th – April 23rd)

The 2010 season is looking much more intense than the 2009.
After a five months break we started our first trip in Barcelona. We raced the “BOSW” (Barcelona Olympic Sailing week) and unexpectedly we won Bronze. It was really surprise…we did not expect that after five months without spending any time on our boat.
Right after BOSW we went to Palma de Mallorca to race the Princess Sophia Trophy, third step of the World Cup circuit. The objective was to build more confidence and start getting more consistent. We were able to stay in the top ten thru the entire regatta and after participating in the “medal race” we finished 8th overall.
It was time to go back to San Remo and work on our sails… we had thought of some adjustments we wanted to do, but we didn’t have much time. The 470 spring cup (Marseille) was one week away.
Marseille was an adventure. More than 60 boats on the line made everything harder than expected. Our strategy of being consistent and not using our drop till the end looked almost impossible.
Anyways, we were able to stick to our strategy and we stayed the whole regatta in the top three. We finished second, just four points behind the Australians. We were really happy with our performance and little by little we had built our confidence back again.
It was the end of our first European trip and we were ready to face our second one, which would have a new challenge: Changing our boat, but not only the hull, the constructor! This means the whole shape of the boat was going to change.
